Whisper Trick
Aliens, monsters, ants, and bees! The writers of Whisper Trick are “really curious about what’s out there beyond the borders we’ve not yet reached” (“What’s Out There?”). This book navigates multiple universes, a flight through a thunderstorm, and a rainbow’s birth. With moving vulnerability, the writers tackle topics such as death, loss, and how we keep moving through darkness in our everyday lives: “It is hard but I’ll keep going / The washing machine is flowing / Spinning / Soaking / Washing” (“Poem for My Future Self”). Through the difficult moments when we feel like shutting down, these authors’ voices persist, reminding us of beautiful things like raindrops that “Fill the gutters / – Stream down the hills / – Run through the grass” (“Shining From Within”). One writer envisions her life forty years down the road: “Here you are a 90 year old woman who never thought she would never be this old and have a life time of success stories to share with the world” (“To the 90 Year Old Selena”).
