I am floating down the river stream the river is taking me to a unknown destination the river is my feet I’m not walking with my feet the river is my feet I am going downstream to a destination
– Danielle Day
The River Is My Feet
In The River Is My Feet, there’s music: “I can make music like a guitar. / I like to sing like a bird” (“Be Writing”). There are dancing trees and a choker that comes to life. There are shifting seasons, bullies, and foiled plans. Winding like a river, this collection of writing contains longing: “When will I see my moon / And the familiar stars again?” (“Missing You”). At once bold and vulnerable, the authors offer their memories and reflections alongside their visions and dreams. They write with intention: “I want the people to see me” (“A 2005 GMC Bruce XL”).
