Please Put the Radio Back

“Quiet but busy,” writes an author in Please Put the Radio Back. She’s describing the ocean, but the same could well be true of a Cow Tipping book—the surface looks quiet enough, but dive a little deeper and you’ll be feasting on snake meat (“Vampire Strange”) and confronting goat mummies (“The Mummy”). If the job of the writer is to trick readers into living in their crafted world, I’ll paraphrase another author from this vibrant collection: if you’re reading a Cow Tipping book, you “can’t not watch the tricks” (“Need Some Help With This”).
